360 curlers hit the ice in TMR for ‘Kurling for Kids’ fundraiser

By News Staff

More than 360 curlers were on the ice Saturday in TMR for the 25th anniversary of the “Kurling for Kids” fundraiser.

More than $140,000 was raised for two children’s hospitals in Quebec: the Sainte-Justine Foundation and the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation.

The funds will go towards purchasing urgent care equipment for the two hospitals.

Seventeen curling clubs or regions participated in the 25th edition of the event.

Each participant had to raise a minimum of $75 and could collect donations and sell raffle tickets via the online fundraising website.

Kurling for Kids also committed to multi-year funding of $250,000 for a room in a brand-new pavilion scheduled to open in September 2023.

It will be the first and only residence in Montreal offering free accommodations for parents of hospitalized children.

Kurling for Kids began in Quebec. It later expanded to Ontario and Alberta.
