Man in his 60s dies crushed by tree branch he was trying to cut in Montérégie

A man in his 60s died in Les Coteaux, Montérégie, after police say he was crushed by the weight of a branch he was trying to cut down on Thursday morning.

Premier Legault also confirming the news at a press conference at Hydro-Québec on Thursday afternoon. “I’m saying to all Quebecers be careful.”

Sûreté du Québec (SQ) explain that he was trying to prune a branch that was beginning to crack on a tree in his backyard.

They say the branch was not threatening to collapse on anyone, but as he cut it, he found himself crushed under it.

Hi family was nearby and quickly called 911, around 10:30 a.m.

When emergency services arrived on the scene, resuscitation maneuvers were attempted on the victim, but his death was eventually confirmed on the scene.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of this tragedy.
