Old Montreal: Canada’s most Instagrammable tourist destination, new study

Looking for staycation ideas this summer? Enjoy some time strolling the picturesque streets of Old Montreal – which is considered the most Instagrammable tourist destination in all of Canada.
Casino comparison site CasinoBonusCA analyzed the number of Instagram posts containing relevant hashtags for the top 50 tourist destinations in Canada, according to top travel sites, to determine which one was the most popular with Instagram users – and Old Montreal came out on top with 22,398,024 Instagram posts containing its hashtags.

The posts contain everything from scenic views of the Old Port, pictures of historic buildings like the Notre-Dame Basilica and snaps from the cultural scene at Place d’Armes.

“The architecture, some of the oldest in Canada…It’s beautiful, and you don’t find this anywhere else,” says one Montrealer.
Jamie Sherman and Jordan Sherman visiting from Detroit there seems to be a photo opportunity everywhere, “every single store and everything that would be like, take a photo here, let’s take a photo there,” says Jordan.
“It’s just very charming and just the architecture is so beautiful, and it’s just a gorgeous area,” added Jamie, who runs her business off of the social platform.
John Hart visiting from Boston says he can see why the location was deemed the most Instagrammable, “it’s a beautiful city. It feels like we’re in an old French city right now or somewhere in Europe. Doesn’t feel like a short drive from Boston by any means.”
“I’m always here taking pictures all the time, no matter the weather, no matter the conditions,” says Eli G Garcia a Fashion Journalist and Content Creator with over one-hundred-thousand followers on Instagram – her feed is filled with pictures taken right here in Old Montreal.

“The Old Montreal architecture is really European and I love this style and I love these French vibes, this European charm,” Garcia says.
“We don’t see this kind of street every day. Old Montreal has this flair, this charm, that not many cities seem in the rest of Canada have,” she added.
Coming in second place is Niagara Falls in Ontario, and in third place Whistler-Blackomb Ski resort in B.C.
