Worker injured by mechanical shovel on Outremont construction site

A 45-year-old man was injured by a mechanical shovel Friday morning while working on a construction site in Outremont.

It happened just before 8 a.m. at the site of the Paul-Gérin-Lajoie school expansion, near the intersection of Saint-Viateur and avenue de l’Épée.

The man was hit and suffered lower body injuries. He was conscious when transported to hospital. The SPVM say his life is not in danger.

Police collision investigators will assist the investigation by the workplace safety board, the CNESST.

The construction site was closed for the remainder of the day.
