Laval fire sends mother and two children to hospital

An apartment fire in Laval-des-Rapides sent three people to hospital Monday, including two children.

They sustained serious burns and one of the children was in critical condition, but their lives are no longer in danger.

It happened around 5:20 p.m., when a 911 call came in about the blaze at 74 8th Street in Laval-des-Rapides.

It was limited to the one unit and quickly put out by about 30 firefighters who responded to the call.

A 39-year-old woman and her four and seven-year-olds were taken to hospital.

The cause of the fire is still not known and is under investigation.
