Quebec’s $10-million investment in sustainable mobility projects

By News Staff

The Quebec government is awarding close to $10 million through Investment Quebec to support a project linked to sustainable and intelligent mobility. Tangente IA brings together three partner companies, BusPas, Suppliers of Knowledge (better known as KPI Digital) and Les matrices Carritec.

The province’s minister of economy, innovation and energy, Pierre Fitzgibbon, made the announcement Thursday in Montreal.

The project was selected as part of a call for collaborative projects on the development of tomorrow’s transport technologies. It aims to develop hardware and software solutions for connected bus stops, data analysis and dissemination of key information intended for various players in the transport industry and in smart cities. It will also make it possible to develop a display for the interiors of bus shelters and follow a bus in real time.

Supporting technology that improves ridership and reduces costs

“Quebec is very committed to the transition to sustainable and intelligent mobility,” said Fitzgibbon. “Thanks to dynamic companies and partners like BusPas, KPI Digital and Les Matrices Carritec, we can move forward in this necessary process while creating financial benefits.”

BusPas develops hardware and software for smart bus stops that help increase ridership, reduce costs, improve passenger experience while enhancing passenger safety, optimize operations and communicate with users. KPI Digital is an analytics, artificial intelligence and digital transformation solutions provider, and Les Matrices Carritec specializes in custom architectural solutions.

“In terms of sustainable and intelligent mobility, Quebec has many innovative companies that contribute to its economic development,” said transport and sustainable mobility minister, Geneviève Guilbault.

“Our support for the second phase of the Tangente IA project will promote the implementation of ever more creative solutions within Quebec’s transportation sector.”
