Man dies following physical assault outside Orange Julep on May 31

UPDATE June 9: A man died from his injuries on Thursday after being assaulted by multiple suspects in the parking lot of the Orange Julep on May 31.

Police arrested and charged a 22-year-old man on June 1 with one count of aggravated assault, but with the victim’s death, new charges could be laid.

Montreal police service’s major crime unit is investigating the man’s death as the city’s 10th homicide of the year (of 12 murders).

It was a busy night for the Montreal police (SPVM) Wednesday, with multiple calls to respond to.

At around 10:15 p.m. a fight broke out in the parking lot of the Orange Julep, on Décarie Blvd. near Paré Street.

A 50-year-old is in critical condition following a physical assault by the suspect(s) who fled the scene.

Then, around 11:45 p.m., the SPVM called by Laval police about a shooting in Anjou.

A 24-year-old man was shot at in his vehicle, from suspects in another moving vehicle.

He then fled to Laval with projectile impacts on his car. He was not injured.

Montreal police say they haven’t been able to establish the exact location where the shooting occurred, but they believe it happened on Baldwin Street near Metropolitan Blvd.

No arrests have been made in either case so far.

The SPVM is also investigating after eight vehicles were lit on fire Wednesday night in two separate incidents in Saint-Laurent and Lachine.
