Due to smog from wildfires in Quebec, some cities are making it easier for riders to take public transit and help avoid having more drivers on the roads.
The Société de transport de Laval (STL) says riders can take the bus for only $1 due to the smog alert issued by Environment Canada.
This special rate will be maintained throughout the day for riders paying on board in cash, credit or debit.
[ALERTE SMOG MAINTENUE] Le tarif SMOG à 1$ est maintenu pour demain, le mecredi 7 juin.

“Launched in 2008, the STL’s Smog Alert is a unique initiative in Canada. It aims to promote the use of public transit rather than the car when the air quality deteriorates to the point of falling below acceptable standards,” explains the STL in a press release on Wednesday morning.
The STL monitors Environment Canada smog alerts until Labour Day.
