A smog alert still in effect for much of Quebec on Wednesday, as wildfires in the northwestern part of the province continue to burn.
Environment Canada saying that for some western parts of Greater Montreal, there are “high concentrations of fine particulate matter from forest fires in Quebec [leading to] poor air quality […] However conditions are expected to improve this morning.”
The weather agency adds that smog especially affects asthmatic children and people with respiratory ailments or heart disease. “It is therefore recommended that these individuals avoid intense physical activity outdoors until the smog warning is lifted.”
Some schools kept children in for recess on Tuesday and many are expected to do the same today.
Cloudy with a chance of showers Wednesday, with a high of 16°C.
Overcast and more rain possible on Thursday. High of 18°C.
Sun and clouds on Friday and 21°C.
Then temperatures climbing for the weekend with 23°C on Saturday and 27°C on Sunday – but showers possible in the evening.
