A deadly construction holiday week on Quebec roads

The first week of the construction holiday was very heavy in terms of casualties.
No fewer than 15 people lost their lives on Quebec roads since last Friday, according to provincial police.
With more than a quarter of Quebecers on vacation and travelling, the last few days have been particularly deadly compared to recent years.
Last year, during the two-week construction holiday, 13 people lost their lives on the roads or on off-road trails. This year, that number has already been exceeded with a full week still left.
Several accidents involving motorcyclists or ATV riders have also occurred in the province in recent days, with six people losing their lives last week.
A grim total of 50 drownings so far this year in Quebec
While the situation is far from being good on the roads, it’s not really any better on the water as the milestone of 50 drowning deaths was reached this weekend.
At least two people lost their lives swimming over the weekend and two men were still missing Sunday evening in the Laurentians.
