Montreal’s pride festival is back for its 17th year – the festivities beginning on Aug. 3 until Aug. 13.

After being cancelled last year on the morning of the event, because volunteer security positions had not been recruited.

The pride parade is scheduled to go ahead as planned this year on Aug. 13 at 1 p.m. in downtown Montreal.

Fierté has hired 200 personnel and will have an additional 120 volunteers this time around.

Many events are planned for the festival itself, with more than 150 artists taking the stage in Jardins Gamelin and at other venues in the village, as well as on the esplanade at Olympic park.
