A competition-winning solar car and hybrid rocket drew dozens of eager scientific-minded students to Montreal’s Polytechnique Wednesday morning.
As part of the Folie Technique science camp, the STEM students got a chance to get up close and personal with the science of tomorrow.
Also on display were a robot, an electric racing car, an astromobile and a nanosatellite.
Two of the sustainable technology projects by Polytechnique engineering students triumphed this summer in competitions in the United States.
The Oronos team, with their experimental hybrid rocket, won first prize in the Spaceport America Cup in New Mexico in June. It was their third consecutive victory in the “10K Hybrid/Liquid Rocket-Student Research and Developed Components” category.
And the Projet Esteban team won the Electrek Formula Sun Grand Prix last month in Topeka, Kansas, with their solar car prototype.
