Montreal police seek public’s help to solve Aug. 7 murder, man shot downtown

Montreal police (SPVM) are asking for the public’s help with the investigation into the 19th murder of the year, which occurred in the Ville-Marie borough on August 7.

It happened around 3:30 a.m., when the bars were closing near the intersection of Sainte-Catherine west and Guy streets in the downtown area.

Several people reported a 28-year-old man walking on Sainte-Catherine west, with gunshot wounds. He was seriously injured and taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“Anyone who was in the vicinity of the event that night, or who has any information about it, is invited to call the investigators of the Major Crime Section directly at 514 280-2052, or to go to their local police station, or to call 911,” said SPVM in a press release.

“Rewards of up to $3,000 are available from Info-Crime Montréal for information leading to the arrest of suspects. Certain conditions apply.”
