Concordia University invites students to second annual Indigenous pow wow

By News Staff

Smoke dancing, hand drumming and throat singing – the cultural heartbeat of Indigenous cultures – will be the front and centre at Concordia’s second annual pow wow this week.

The Otsenhákta Student Centre (OSC) is hosting the pow wow Friday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Loyola Campus.

The celebration of Indigenous culture puts a spotlight on past, current and future First Nations, Inuit and Métis students at Concordia.

A pow wow is a celebration of Indigenous culture that originated in the 19th century.

Also on the schedule for the Concordia pow wow is inter-tribal dancing, hoop dancing, a Métis jog and more.

The OSC was created in 1992 as an on-campus resource for First Nations, Inuit and Métis students.
