Busy night for the SPVM in Montreal’s Rivière-des-Prairies borough

It was a busy night for the Montreal police force (SPVM).

First, at around 2:35 a.m. calls were made to 911 about gunshots heard in the Rivière-des-Prairies (RDP) borough.

Once on the scene, the SPVM located at least one bullet hole outside an apartment on Lorenzo-Prince Ave.

Two people were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, but were not injured.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.

The SPVM is meeting with witnesses and looking through surveillance footage.

The investigation is ongoing.

Suspicious fire

The SPVM’s arson squad is also investigating a suspicious fire that occurred shortly after in RDP at around 3 a.m. in a building on Jean-Jalbot Ave.

No injuries were reported but evacuations were necessary.

The Montreal fire department deemed the nature of the fire suspicious and transferred the investigation to the SPVM.

No arrests have been made so far.
