‘Merci Borsch’: Traditional Ukrainian soup featured at Montreal event

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress, volunteers and chefs teamed up to bring the love of traditional Ukrainian beet soup to Montrealers. Those participating got the chance to sample five authentic borsch recipes.

Beautiful weather, socializing on a terrace – and borsch.

The Ukrainian Canadian Congress, volunteers and chefs teamed up to bring the love of traditional Ukrainian beet soup to Montrealers.

Community members participating in the free event got the chance to sample five authentic borsch recipes.

The popular dish is recognized by UNESCO as a part of Ukraine’s cultural heritage.

Organizers say sharing this soup is a way to thank Quebecers for their unwavering support to Ukrainians and to share their culture with others.

The day was filled with live performances, culinary workshops for children, Ukrainian crafts and more.
