Montreal police (SPVM) arrested two minors, aged 15 and 16, in connection with gunshots that were fired inside the Saint-Michel library on Oct. 8.
The suspects were apprehended at their residences in the Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough on Tuesday. Investigators also seized several items of evidence.
The two suspects appeared in youth court and are currently facing charges of possession of a firearm. The SPVM says other charges may be added at a later date.
On Oct. 8, at around 3 p.m., 911 calls came in to report “firecracker noises” coming from inside the public washrooms of the Saint-Michel library, located on François-Perrault Street.
Investigations confirmed that shots were fired from inside the building. Working in conjunction with neighbourhood station 30 (Saint-Michel), investigators were able to identify and arrest the suspects who had fled the scene.
The investigation also revealed that a third teenager, who was also in the library washroom, was not directly involved in the incident. No one was injured.
