Laval man arrested for alleged sex crimes against children

By News Staff

Laval police (SPL) are looking to speak to potential victims of a 64-year-old man accused of sex-related crimes against minors.

Jean-Claude Deslauriers, a resident of Sainte-Rose, was arrested Aug. 18. He is facing charges of sexual assault, sexual contact with a minor and a breach of conditions.

Police say the alleged crimes took place between the summer of 2022 up until his arrest.

Laval police allege the suspect, while walking his dog in the neighbourhood, would invite girls to his home.

“There, he allegedly took the opportunity to touch the young victims,” the SPL said in a news release.

Investigators believe there could be more victims, and they are asking them to come forward.

Given there are multiple victims, an SQ-coordinated serial crime investigation team (GECS) – which allows for a pooling of police resources – is involved in the investigation.

The accused has been released under certain conditions and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 6.

Potential victims are asked to contact Laval police at Ligne-Info 450 662- INFO (4636) or by dialing 911 and mentioning file LVl-230806-042.
