Man found dead in downtown Montreal apartment, marks of violence on body: police

The Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating the suspicious death of a 55-year-old man in downtown Montreal Thursday morning.

At around 8:30 a.m. a 911 call was made reporting a man found unconscious in an apartment on du Musée Avenue, near Sherbrooke Street, in the Ville-Marie borough.

The man was declared dead on the scene.

SPVM spokesperson Jeanne Drouin says the man had marks of violence on his body.

“What we know for now is that his body might have some violence marks so that’s why there is a perimeter on site to allow the investigators to analyze the scene because for now we’re taking about a suspicious death,” she explained.

The SPVM’s major crime unit set up a perimeter around the scene as they met with witnesses and searched for camera footage.

The investigation is ongoing.

“If anyone has information regarding this suspicious death they can call 911 to give information – they can also come here on site to meet investigators,” Drouin added.
