Laval police investigate restaurant fire, possible arson

By News Staff

Laval police are investigating a suspicious fire that targeted a restaurant in Chomedey overnight.

Al Sultan Restaurant has been hit by possible arsonists multiple times this year alone, including with a Molotov cocktail previously.

The Service de police de Laval (SPL) was alerted around 2 a.m. about the fire at the commercial building on Curé-Labelle Blvd.

While firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control, the damage to the building and restaurant is said to be extensive.

The investigation has been transferred to the SPL.

No injuries were reported.

Curé-Labelle Blvd. was closed to traffic in both directions, between the Lachapelle bridge to the north and Lévesque Blvd. west towards Montreal.
