Dominique Ollivier says she will fully cooperate with Montreal’s auditor general investigating OCMP practices

Dominique Ollivier, the chair of Montreal’s executive committee, says she will fully cooperate with the city’s auditor general’s review of the expenses and practices that took place under her presidency at the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM).

Before becoming chairperson of Montreal’s executive committee – Olliver was president of the OCPM from 2014 to 2019.

Reporting by TVA Nouvelles unveiled questionable expenses of public money by the OCPM under her watch including trips and a $347 oyster diner.

At the public executive meeting on Wednesday, Ollivier said she regretted some expenses she made while she was president of the OCPM.

“It’s not because expenses are legal, permitted, that they’re acceptable, and I regret particularly that certain expenses affected the population’s sense of confidence. I’m the first to say that things need to change at the OCPM,” Ollivier said in a statement before the meeting began.

The reports also revealed the same kind of spending under the current president of the OCPM Isabelle Beaulieu

Montreal’s auditor general has been mandated to review the practices by the OCPM following these allegations.

The current president will also be called to answer questions at a public hearing.

Ensemble Montreal, the official opposition at city hall, has called for Ollivier’s resignation but on Tuesday mayor Valérie Plante stood by Olliver reiterating her confidence in her.
