Freezing rain makes morning commute difficult for Montrealers, some without power

Freezing rain fell overnight and continued into the morning hours Wednesday. It made for a slippery commute in Montreal.

As the temperature warms up this morning the freezing rain should turn to rain, possibly mixed with snow.

The periods of drizzle are expected to continue all day, but end after midnight.

Temperatures should stay steady at around plus 2 degrees.

The freezing rain led to some power outages. Hydro-Québec reported about 10,000 costumers were in the dark, as of 8 a.m. on Wednesday. The outages particularly affecting customers in the Centre du Quebec, Laval, the Laurentians, Mauricie and the Eastern Townships. In Montreal some 350 clients were affected.

On Thursday, the sun should be back. We’ll see a mix of sun and clouds, and there’s a 60 per cent chance of showers at night. High of plus 3.

Friday, mix of sun and clouds and cooler with a high of minus 5.

Saturday, more sun, and a high of minus 2.

Periods of snow in the forecast for Sunday with a high of plus 1.
