OCPM put under trusteeship, president fired, after misspending allegations

The president of the Office de consultation publique de Montréal (OCPM), Isabelle Beaulieu, has been fired after controversial spending allegations under her watch came to light through reports by TVA Nouvelles.

Among the spending allegations lavish trips, meals, furniture, and electronics.

On Tuesday night, Montreal’s city council voted unanimously to fire Beaulieu and put the OCPM under trusteeship.

This comes following her testimony before a commission examining the OCPM’s management at Montreal city hall last Friday.

Beaulieu became president of the OCPM in 2021- succeeding Dominique Ollivier – the former right hand to Montreal mayor Valérie Plante. She was also accused of over spending while heading the OCMP.

Ollivier resigned as President of Montreal’s Executive Committee last week but is staying on as city councillor in the Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie borough. Ollivier also testified before the commission last Friday.

City council said Tuesday night that Ollivier can stay on as city councillor.

The official opposition at city hall however is calling for her to be removed from the Projet Montreal caucus.
