TRANSCO school bus strike continues for Montreal-area

There has not yet been on a settlement on the TRANSCO bus strike that started Oct. 31, 2023.

Some 350 Montreal area school bus drivers are on strike, affecting the commute of some 20,000 students.

Transco’s union members voted at 99 per cent to launch an indefinite general strike on Oct. 18, 2023 amid negotiations for a higher salary.

In an email sent to parents on Wednesday the Lester B. Pearson School Board said it will continue to offer extended supervision for families of elementary students before school and/or after school on regular school days, so parents can drop off students who usually take the bus early.

“We realize the inconveniences this situation may cause and are working with all the parties involved to try to resolve this matter as quickly as possible,” their email concluded.

The union said the strike would last as long as an agreement is reached with the employer.
