Snowfall warning for Montreal, southern Quebec

Montreal and most of southern Quebec can expect its first big snowfall of the season, according to Environment Canada.

Between 15-20 cm of snow are expected to fall beginning Sunday afternoon, with the weather authority warning snow will “rapidly intensify” in the evening.

“Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations,” Environment Canada warns. “There may be a significant impact on rush hour traffic in urban areas.”

The snowfall will continue into Monday.

Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for the following regions of southern Quebec:

  • Beauce
  • Drummondville – Bois-Francs
  • Eastern Townships
  • Lachute – Saint-Jérôme
  • Lanaudière
  • Laurentians
  • Mauricie
  • Metro Montréal – Laval
  • Mont-Laurier
  • Mont-Tremblant Park – Saint-Michel-des-Saints
  • Pontiac
  • Québec
  • Richelieu Valley – Saint-Hyacinthe
  • Upper Gatineau – Lièvre – Papineau
  • Vaudreuil – Soulanges – Huntingdon

A winter storm warning is in effect for the Gatineau area.
