Alouettes extend QB Cody Fajardo’s contract through 2025 season

The Montreal Alouettes have rewarded Grey Cup MVP Cody Fajardo with a contract extension.
The Alouettes announced Wednesday they have extended their starting quarterback’s contract through to the end of the 2025 season.
Fajardo joined the team this year and helped lead the Alouettes to a shocking 28-24 victory over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Grey Cup. The 31-year-old from Brea, Calif., was named MVP after completing 21 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns, including the game-winner to Tyson Philpot with 13 seconds left.
“Cody quickly adapted to our culture and quickly showed leadership,” Alouettes general manager Danny Maciocia said in a statement. “He has proven that he can win and excel under pressure. We are excited to continue his association with us.”
Fajardo, who played with the Saskatchewan Roughriders for three years, completed 317 passes for 3,847 yards and 14 touchdowns in the regular season.
