Man stabbed in Montreal’s Village

A 27-year-old man was seriously injured after being stabbed in Montreal’s Village on Tuesday night.

According to the Montreal police force (SPVM), several calls to 911 were made to report that a man had been stabbed on Sainte-Catherine, near Saint-André Street, at around 5:50 p.m.

The victim sustained significant injuries, but was conscious when transported to hospital. His life is not in danger.

Police arrested a 37-year-old man, who will be met by investigators.

According to initial information from witnesses, authorities say an altercation took place between two individuals on the street. One of them allegedly used a sharp object to injure the victim and then fled on foot.

An investigation is ongoing.
