Residents of Dorval are getting into the holiday spirit with a holiday market.

The Dorval Holiday Market in the heart of Dorval Village is open to the public on weekends until Dec. 17.

Inspired by European markets, the outdoor event features artisans, products, tasty discoveries, and some appearances by residents from the North Pole.

“We’re here today and all of next weekend in support of local merchants and a variety of local community organizations to set up the holiday spirit,” said Danielle Leggett of the West Island Community Shares.

Shoppers told CityNews it’s nice to encourage local shops and vendors.

“I always get my holiday stuff when we’re here for all my family and friends,” one person said.

Part of the profits from the event will be donated to West Island Community Shares, a non-profit organization that raises funds and allocates donations in the West Island.

“They’re also doing a food drive at the front for people,” said Leggett. “It’s free for people to come. If you can bring some food to supply our local food banks, which will be very much in need. And also, it’s a great opportunity to promote local merchants, local shopping, and build the community spirit for the holidays.”
