For All Human Kind United aims to feed 1K families this holiday season

For the second year in a row, For All Human Kind United is providing meals to families in the greater Montreal area. Their goal this year? To feed 1,000 families for the holidays – over 800 more than last year. Founder Giuliano Ficara says efforts are well on their way.
“Every year we know we do different gift exchanges. And we do different gifts and gifts and gifts. And I’m like, like all this money that we’re spending. It could be put to like use some way, somehow to help out a family in need,” explained Ficara.
A “wearable donation” Ficara calls it — as this year — like last, he hopes the proceeds from his clothing brand will go towards food for hundreds of families of four.
“So last year I said, I want to feed one family. I said, what could it possibly cost? You know, at the end of the month, even if I don’t have enough funds to do it from the apparel sales, I’ll just do it myself. The $80 or $100, whatever it’ll be. I said I want to experience and see what it’s like,” said Ficara.
“We ended up finishing with 132 meals last year. So I said, we’re onto something.”
In addition to collaborating with established local organizations, For All Human Kind United is accepting public donations until December 16th – saying there’s a clear need.
“I’m not set up logistically, to plan out the routes, the scheduling, to find these families, how it’s going to work. So I reached out to a youth center in the East end of RDP,” said Ficara.
Kingslyne Toussaint, Director of Équipe RDP added, “The profile of the people who are in need has changed also It’s not only like people that we could say that are vulnerable. But more people come and just ask for help because it’s more difficult. So this year we’re planning to have 300, 350 baskets of food and give for the kids. And with Giuliano, we also are going to continue to give meals that are good meals with entree, main courses, and dessert.”
