A collaborative effort by various organizations and dedicated volunteers in Montreal’s Rivière-des-Prairies borough is making a significant impact on Montreal families facing hardships this holiday season.

Over 300 boxes filled with food and essential items were delivered to those in need in the RDP borough on Thursday.

“We know that the situation with inflation and the economy how it’s hard it’s becoming hard even for regular families,” said Fallon Memettre of Équipe RDP, a non-profit group that works that offers social intervention programs for the community.

Memettre estimates that they’ll feed around 400 families this year.

“We started the boxes yesterday we finished today and now we have a lot of volunteers who’s gonna make the delivery directly to the families,” said Sabrina Oriol of Les Racines d’Ena, a non-profit organization that fights against poverty in the RDP borough.

Giuliano Ficara who’s the owner of For All Human Kind United, a clothing brand that donates its monthly proceeds to different organizations in the city.

“This year we put together 47 meals each meal consisted of an entrée, a soup that they could warm up, a salad, some vegetables and a main dish with some desserts,” said Ficara.

“If we can just bring someone a meal during the holidays and create something for them, to create a special moment for them, maybe it’ll spark something and we’ll create some change,” added Ficara.

“Can you imagine if one person gives, let’s say, one kind of jar of something, a dollar, we could go a long way,” said Oriol.
