The recovery mission for a four-year-old girl who fell into a river north of Quebec City continued Wednesday.

The child has been missing since Friday when she fell into the Mistassibi River in Dolbeau-Mistassini, Que., while sledding with her mother near the riverbank.

The search operation shifted to a recovery mission Tuesday, the Sûreté du Québec announced.

“Today, the searches are concentrated mainly with police officers who observe the river in strategic points and there is also on the water downstream from the scene of the event, a boat from the Sûreté du Québec which checks the banks,” SQ spokesperson Sgt. Hugues Beaulieu said.

Provincial police published photos on Monday of the clothes the girl was wearing – a rainbow-patterned coat and violet snow pants – and asked members of the public to report any sightings along the river.
