Electricity was gradually being restored to thousands in Quebec Sunday after power went out in Saturday’s snowfall.

Some 450 customers across the province were still without power by Sunday evening. Roughly half of those were in the Montérégie region.

Eighty-one customers in Montreal – all in the Town of Mount Royal – were still in the dark by noon. There were no longer any outages in Montreal by late afternoon.

Earlier Sunday morning, approximately 5,000 Hydro-Quebec customers were without electricity across the province.

Saturday’s snowstorm brought a mix of snow with some rain, covering the city with about 15 centimetres of snow.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the Montreal area Sunday, warning of heavy flurries and blowing snow, leading to significantly reduced visibility.
