66-year-old stabbed to death outside Laval-des-Rapides home

Laval police (SPL) are investigating their city’s first murder of the year.

A 66-year-old man was stabbed to death outside a home in Laval-des-Rapides overnight.

A suspect in his 30s was arrested onsite and authorities confirm that the pair new each other, but would not elaborate on their exact relationship.

Court documents show they are father and son.

The son facing a second-degree murder charge.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. on Place Robin.

The victim was immediately transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect was also taken to hospital, but it’s unclear what injuries he sustained or how. He is expected to meet with investigators later in the day.

Forensic identification technicians began analyzing the scene, and a Laval police command post was stationed nearby.
