The Montreal International Auto Show is gearing up to showcase the very latest from the industry. All the automotive action unfolds at the Palais des congrès de Montreal as of Friday.
“This year we have 13 automakers back,” said Bertrand Godin, spokesperson for the show. “We are really proud because they understand how important it is, because people are passionate for cars and technology.”
Tesla’s hyped Cybertruck is on display – along with the latest car models, new electric and hybrid vehicles, traditional cars and trucks, muscle cars, vintage cars, race cars, and more – as well as auto-related products and services. It’s all over three floors at the Palais des congrès.
This year’s 79th edition has a big focus on hybrid and electric vehicles – they make up 80 per cent of all the vehicles being showcased.
“We have also a motor sport zone. You have snowmobiles, you have motorcycles, you have boats, you have some new Canadian premiers in the mobility of those activities. So it’s really, really, really fun.”
The show will also showcase Luc Poirier’s Ferrari collection. “Last year we saw a few cars from his collection, but this year we have 31 Ferraris from 1967 to 2023. So you have the history of Ferrari here in the Palais des Congrès,” added Godin.
Those who attend the Auto Show will also have the possibility to test drive cars with CAA-Québec. “They will be able to try the Hummer EV. You have the F-150 Lightning. And we have 14 models. People will be able to test on the road of Montreal.”
“We are really proud because they understand people like to see cars and to see the texture, to see the smell of a new car.”
“For me personally, I like motor racing. So that’s why I’m really like a kid when I see all those cars. And you have also some drivers. So I’m anxious to go to the simulator to make some good [times] and to see if visitors will beat me. So that’s a place. But in the Palais des Congrés, that’s the place to dream, to make the right choice,” said Godin.
Founded in 1914 by the Corporation des concessionnaires d’automobiles de Montréal, the Montreal International Auto Show is the most important show of its kind in Quebec.
The Montreal Auto Show starts Friday and runs until Jan. 28.
