Another union affiliated with the Fédération autonome de l’enseignement (FAE) has accepted the agreement in principle with the Quebec government.

The Outaouais Education Union (SEO) voted 57 per cent in favour of the agreement in principle, the union announced Tuesday morning.

This is the third union affiliated with the FAE to vote in favour of the agreement.

On its Facebook page, the SEO states that the agreement came “after several hours of discussions in a general assembly with more than 2,000 teachers” from the Coeur-des-Vallées, Draveurs and Portages-de-L’Outaouais school service centers.

“Out of respect for all the teachers involved in this negotiation, the SEO will not comment publicly on the content of the agreement in principle until the local meetings of all the unions affiliated with the FAE are held,” said the union.

Last week, the Montreal Teachers’ Alliance and the Pointe-de-l’Île Teachers’ Union accepted the agreement in principle at 52 and 58.5 per cent respectively.

There has been one FAE group who rejected the agreement by 68 per cent, which was the Syndicat de l’enseignement de la région de Laval.

Five of the FAE’s nine affiliated unions and a majority of its 66,500 members must vote in favour of the agreement in principle for it to be accepted.
