Freezing rain in Montreal: Environment Canada

Environment Canada issued a freezing rain warning for Montreal and much of Southern Quebec for five to 10 millimetres.

Wedesday evening, freezing rain could be seen in Montreal with winds of around 19 kilometres an hour. 

The temperatures overnight should be steady around minus 4 degrees, feeling like minus 14 with the wind chill.

“Freezing precipitation will begin this evening and continue into Thursday morning. A second period of freezing rain is expected on Friday. The morning commute on Thursday could be significantly impacted,” the weather agency said on its website.

“Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions.”

The affected areas may be the southern portion of the province, from Pontiac and Haut-Gatineau to Montreal, including part of the Laurentians

In the meantime, the weather will be cloudy with a 40 per cent chance of flurries throughout the day on Wednesday.
