Saint-Hubert Airport unveils new name

By The Canadian Press & News Staff

The airport located in Saint-Hubert since 1927 will now be called the Aéroport métropolitain de Montréal, or with the abbreviation MET.

MET will be used to enhance brand recognition and accessibility, according to management.

They also say construction on the new terminal is going well.

“Our ambition is to revolutionize the airport model, making it a source of collective pride and inspiring the world to view air transport differently,” said Yanic Roy, CEO of MET.

The new terminal is set to open in the summer of 2025, with airlines serving the entire country.

According to MET, this will be one of the largest airports in Canada, making Montreal a major world metropolis that will benefit from multiple interconnected airports and serving the populations needs.

On Feb. 27 2023, the airport announced a partnership with Porter Airlines to build a commercial terminal with an annual capacity of four million passengers.

MET says the investment of more than $200 million will mark the beginning of a transformation into commercial aviation that will serve major domestic destinations.

“We aim to surpass the traditional model of air transport and contribute more to society,” Roy added.
