Quebec snowmobile incident leaves two dead in Saint-Esprit, the Lanaudière region

Two snowmobilers lost their lives Sunday evening after the vehicle they were riding in collided with a car in the Lanaudière region.

The victims are a 35-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, who resided in Saint-Lin-Laurentides.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the collision occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of route 125 and rue Turcotte, in Saint-Esprit.

The snowmobile was crossing the road at an authorized location when the car hit it.

Both victims were taken to hospital in critical condition; They were later pronounced dead. As for the driver of the car, he was not injured, but he was still taken to hospital as a precaution.

The SQ does not believe that criminal behavior was involved in this tragedy.

A section of Route 125 was closed until 2:45 a.m. Monday to allow investigators to reconstruct the scene of the accident.
