Montreal police officer injured in hit-and-run

By News Staff

Montreal police (SPVM) say an officer was injured in a hit-and-run while investigating a report of a stolen vehicle Monday evening in the Saint-Laurent borough.

At around 6:20 p.m., two officers in the same cruiser were on Halpern Street scoping out the scene when another vehicle was seen approaching them before quickly turning away.

The officers stopped the suspicious vehicle on Diab Street.

As they were getting out of their cruiser to speak to the driver, the suspect struck one of the officers.

The officers allegedly fired in the direction of the suspect vehicle.

The SPVM says that the suspect fled on foot and is still being sought.

The victim, a female police officer, was sent to hospital.
