Laval man receives $3,015 in fines for speeding

A 23-year-old man received $3,015 in fines for speeding in Laval overnight.

Around 1:30 a.m., Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers were conducting radar operations when they caught a vehicle speeding on Highway 15 South in Laval.

SQ caught the vehicle travelling at 209 km/h in a 100 km/h zone.

The vehicle had two people on board and were intercepted in Montreal.

Police officers discovered that the driver didn’t have a valid driver’s license.

He was issued a $1,076 statement of offence, a $1,939 speeding ticket and will lose 24 demerit points.

Since the driver had no valid driver’s licence, his vehicle was seized for 30 days.

The Sûreté du Québec points out that speed is one of the leading causes of fatal collisions on Quebec roads.
