Empowering through music: Montreal singer-songwriter Jordyn Sugar

This Montrealer is “good in her shoes” and some of the pop world’s leading voices have taken notice like Justin Bieber — she’s also working alongside Backstreet Boy AJ McLean, and has new music dropping soon.
Meet singer-songwriter, Jordyn Sugar.
“Empowered pop is really just about empowering others through my music,” said Jordyn. “Through who I am, through my story.”
Her story -– starts with her 3-year-old self who learned how to play drums on her own.
But she didn’t think music was in her future -– instead, focused on being the captain of her basketball team.
“I was me,” said Jordyn. “I didn’t need to fit into any standard.”
Her sister and family -– encouraged her to post singing videos to TikTok during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is what transcended into everything she’s doing now.
Even trademarking the sub-genre music “empowered pop” -– inspiring her fans to be their authentic selves.
Her TikTok videos include covers of Bieber’s music -– and after followers tagged him, and tagged him, in the comments online he took notice –- reposting it to his Instagram stories.
“I wasn’t even going to post that video that day,” she explained. “And that’s the video he chose like a month later.”
“You never really know unless you put yourself out there.”
Today, she can be seen on the show “The Fashion Hero: A New Kind of Beautiful,” hosted by McLean.
“I got to work with him,” said Jordyn. “I was in South Africa with him in 2022 filming for a week.”
“I got to sing with him.”
Her song, “Good in My Shoes” can be heard through the show –- and now, she hosts the kid’s edition.
The star-studded life doesn’t end there — opening for Kool & the Gang, Crystal Waters and more back in August.
Even getting one on one time with Gloria Gaynor.
“45-minute quality time with her and her manager and her hairstylist,” said Jordyn. “We were just sitting there and she offered me chicken wings so I was eating with her.”
Jordyn’s new song, “Feel the Rush” is set to launch early spring.
An EP also on the way –- She’s manifesting to make it to the Grammy’s one day.
“I think music,” she said “Is just like the most beautiful form of art.”
