"I love it,” says Claudette Floyd, designer gracing the Montreal fashion scene. From dressing Sophie Grégoire Trudeau to a contestant on this season of The Bachelor, she adores every step of the creative process. Pamela Pagano reports.

From dressing Sophie Grégoire Trudeau to a contestant on this season of The Bachelor during their time in Montreal, Claudette Floyd is a designer whose beautiful creations have graced the city for over a decade.

“When I see someone in my piece,” said Floyd. “I get excited.”

“It’s a love,” added the designer. “I do it because I love it.”

“It’s not just they’re coming to buy a dress,” she added. “We offer them a service.”

“Do you want a different color? Do you want to make it lower or higher?”

Originally self-taught, Floyd began her brand while studying Fashion design at Montreal’s Lasalle college.

Now, bringing works of art to life with her team is one of her favourite parts.

Like the green masterpiece seen on Ontario bachelorette, Maria Georgas.

“It was actually really nice because she’s Canadian on top of it,” said Floyd. “She’s a fun girl.”

“It was amazing,” she added. “They were super, super nice.”

Floyd’s love for designing –- blossomed from her mother who was a seamstress.

“Watching her doing it,” explained Floyd. “That’s where the inspiration came from.”

Floyd’s designs have been splattered across magazines –- like the cover of Elle Quebec.

And illuminated runways in Montreal and Toronto.

Her new collections are added to the fashion scene every season.

“Montrealers they come in and they shop,” she said. “That I can appreciate.”
