A man was found dead on the metro tracks of the Orange line, in the tunnel in between Beaubien and Rosemont stations. Montreal police (SPVM) say he may have been electrocuted.

The discovery was made just before 7 a.m. on Monday morning.

SPVM spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier said the man was walking in the tunnel when the incident occurred.

“We don’t know if it was…an accident, but he passed away.”

The cause of death is unknown and the coroner is investigating to determine if it was accidental or deliberate.

As of Monday afternoon, the victim had still not been identified.

Police say it may have been someone who is part of the homeless community

Monday morning the STM said Orange line was disrupted between Henri-Bourassa and Berri-UQAM for about an hour – with service resuming around 8 a.m.

“The service interruption began due to a tunnel intrusion between Beaubien and Rosemont stations. However, we have had to extend the interruption to allow emergency service teams to intervene.”
