PQ leader confirms receiving death threats; suspect arrested

By Lia Lévesque, The Canadian Press

Parti Québécois leader Paul St-Pierre Plamondon confirmed that he received death threats.

Questioned on the subject in Montreal on Friday, during a press conference on another topic, the PQ leader confirmed the information that had been revealed in the Journal de Montréal.

Visibly upset, since the threats were directed at him and his family, St-Pierre Plamondon had to stop before saying, “this is my private sphere, but everything that is (already) public, I confirm.”

He pointed out that four days passed between when the death threats were received and the arrest of a male suspect.

He congratulated the Sûreté du Québec on its “excellent work.”

“As of today, the investigation is still ongoing,” he added.
