Montreal could see up to 20cm of snow starting Wednesday

By News Staff

Just as spring and summer parking restrictions went into force April 1, Montreal is preparing for one more winter snow dump on Wednesday.

Environment Canada issuing a snow warning Wednesday morning warning that up to 20 centimetres of snow is expected, starting Wednesday evening in the south of the province.

The low-pressure system will initially start as daytime rain in Montreal and will turn to snow by Wednesday evening.

Five to 10 cm of accumulation are expected, and heavy snow will continue Thursday with areas farther east more affected.

The Eastern Townships could see up to 25 cm.

The snow will be heavy as it will be wet or mixed with rain, so power outages might take place.

The snow will turn to rain by Thursday evening and the sun will return for the weekend.

Environment Canada has issued special weather statements advising motorists to postpone any non-essential travel.
