Montreal police (SPVM) arrested at least four teenagers suspected of stabbing a 35-year-old homeless man at the Lionel-Groulx metro station on Thursday night.

Officers received several 911 calls around 8:30 p.m. about an altercation between a group of people at the entrance of Lionel-Groulx.

When first-responders arrived on the scene, they found the victim with injuries to the upper body.

He was transported to hospital with serious injuries, but is in stable condition.

Five teenagers, aged 13, 14, 15, 17 and 18, have been arrested in connection with the attack.

The three minors are expected to appear in Quebec’s youth court on Friday, while the 18-year-old will be charged as an adult at a later date.

Some of the suspects arrested were already known to the SPVM, authorities say.

A fifth suspect was also reportedly arrested, but Montreal police could not confirm the information as of Friday afternoon.

The motive for the attack remains unknown and an investigation is still ongoing.
