By The Canadian Press

A conflict between two people in Montreal left one man injured and one hospitalized on Thursday.

Montreal police (SPVM) received a 911 call around 3:30 a.m. about a fight near Saint-Marc and Sainte-Catherine Street.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 41-year-old man with lower body injuries.

He was conscious when taken to hospital.

Authorities say his life is not in danger.

Shortly after, police located a 32-year-old suspect.

“According to initial information, a conflict escalated between the victim and the suspect, at which point the suspect injured the victim with an unknown object,” explained Caroline Chèvrefils, spokesperson for the SPVM.

The suspect is expected to meet SPVM investigators later in the day.

“The two individuals knew each other, and both have criminal records,” added Chèvrefils.

The investigation is still ongoing.
