The ninth edition of the Montreal Shaadi Show took place on Sunday.

It’s the largest South Asian wedding show in Montreal, with an annual attendance of more than 4,000 people.

Seventy-five vendor exhibitors from Montreal and Toronto showcased the latest in South Asian fashion trends – clothes, hair, makeup and jewelry.

Food catering services were also featured along with different professional wedding photography and video services.

“What’s unique about the Shaadi Show is that South Asian vendors are providing all the services that couples are looking for for their big day, whether it be a wedding, whether it be a party,” said Sonia Masand, a spokesperson for the event.

“There are so many unique pieces that are required for South Asians to put their events together. And we have a one-stop shop to bring you everything you need.”

“Shaadi” is a Hindi word that translates to wedding.

Sunday’s Shaadi Show took place at the Plaza Volare Reception Hall in Saint Laurent.

It concluded with two fashion shows that featured the latest men’s and women’s fashion trends for South Asian communities.

“I think an event like this is really important for the South Asian community because representation is very important,” Masand said. “I think we all have unique cultures and diverse cultures. And I think having the representation to showcase that and to bring it all, not just for the South Asian community, but to show the rest of Montreal, the rest of Canada, what there is to offer within the South Asian community is a privilege and a unique opportunity.”
