Montreal police (SPVM) are investigating after a 39-year-old woman was stabbed in an NDG motel on Friday morning.

A call came into 911 about the incident around 11:40am. It happened in a motel on Saint-Jacques Street, near Lily-Simon Street.

When police arrived on the scene, they found the victim with multiple injuries to her upper body.

She was conscious when paramedics transported her to hospital. SPVM confirm that her life is no longer in danger.

“The suspect allegedly attacked the victim with a sharp object and then fled the scene before police arrived,” said Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson with Montreal police.

Authorities add that the link between the pair and the reason for the attack is not yet known.

A perimeter has been setup around the scene as forensic technicians and investigators are onsite.

Police are working to speak to witnesses and find surveillance camera footage that could contribute to the investigation.
