Habs captain Nick Suzuki engaged

Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki and his fiancée Caitlin Fitzgerald announced their engagement Thursday.

In a post on social media, Fitzgerald is seen showcasing an engagement ring in photos with Suzuki while the pair are in the Dominican Republic.

Suzuki was expected to join Team Canada at the IIHF tournament in Czech Republic in May, however, he turned down the opportunity to play for the team.

During the 2023-24 season, he had 33 goals and 44 assists, for 77 points — a career-high for all three.

In an interview with the Canadiens in February, Fitzgerald said they met in high school in London, Ontario.

“We kind of just knew each other through mutual friends. He had been living out of town playing hockey, but we just kind of connected at the time – 2016 or 2017 – on Instagram and Snapchat and the rest is history.”

She later went on to say in the interview that Suzuki is “super compassionate” and “easy to get along with.”
